The generated electricity is primarily consumed on-site. Surplus electricity is fed into the public grid, while additional power needs are met by drawing electricity from the grid.

In the tenant electricity model, the power does not pass through the public electricity market but is distributed directly within the building. Specific legal regulations apply to this process, designed—among other things—to keep electricity costs attractive for tenants.
